Walking rule — `Krok przepisujący`

D-013: Walking rule — Krok przepisujący

The grammar of the step is redaction. Each step is an editorial commit — a linijka oddana do składu Spisu Wszechrzeczy. The Walker writes the world by walking it. The Cech Niedokończonych Wypraw is, at its theoretical register, an editorial guild (whose disciplines include cartography, anomaly registration, and leak measurement). The Cech motto „Każdy krok piszemy do końca" is, as of D-013, no longer metaphor: piszemy is the operative verb.

ENG handle: walking-rule.redaction. PL evocative name: Krok przepisujący. EN evocative name: The Redacting Step. Research artifact at ops/research/walking-rule.md; local decision log at ops/decisions/2026-05-20-d013-walking-rule.md.

Three candidates considered on a grammar-of-the-step axis: R1 — redaction / Krok przepisujący (each step = editorial commit — RATIFIED); R2 — mending / Krok zszywający (each step = stitch — rejected, imports non-textual metaphor + Bractwo/Cech stance collapse); R3 — outpacing / Krok wyprzedzający (each step = evasion — rejected, hard veto on D-009 offline cap + Cech/Dziki Trakt stance collapse).

Coexistence with D-012 (defining-image): RESONANT. D-012’s image verb (przepisać) IS R1’s verb. Image and rule share a single metaphysical engine — the falling pages of the torn Spis Wszechrzeczy BECOME the lines on the Walker’s pocket map; the Walker’s step IS the line being drawn. defining-image.mdx:23 already flags „Mechanizm tego widzenia jest tematem osobnego rejestru, do którego Cech jeszcze dochodzi"D-013 is that rejestr.

No amendments needed to D-006 / D-007 / D-009 / D-010 / D-014. R1 is native fit across every existing mechanics canon:

  • D-007: Streak = consecutive attested days of editorial commits accepted by the Spis. +20% at 7d = the Spis recognizes the Walker’s hand; +50% at 30d = trusted-editor status. Decay on missed attested day = hand-recognition fades. Per-day attestation invariant preserved.
  • D-009: 7-day offline cap = the Spis holds 7 days of un-sync’d edits in queue. Provisional allocations = edits provisional until the Spis acknowledges (server validates against HealthKit / Health Connect).
  • D-010: Combat-as-edit. Walker proposes edits; the seeded PRNG is the Spis’s arbitration. Walker-first alternation = the Walker’s edit lands first. Non-punitive defeat (hp→1) = the edit was rejected; the Walker re-drafts. Encounter transcripts (formulas.md §11) read as the simulator’s existing data shape.
  • D-014: Endgame keystones become Spis-access gateways, extending (not conflicting with) the six leak-handler keystone-per-region pattern. Harvest weekly caps unchanged.

Five faction stances generated, all native, no collapse:

  • Cech: „Piszemy linijkę, nie redagujemy księgi." Walking is the editorial act they are paid for.
  • Akademia: Walking is premature publication. Włodyk would prefer no walking until the formula is found; he tolerates the Cech because they pay the rent. Internal critic, not external opposition — Filar 1 preserved.
  • Bractwo: Walking is prayer-as-typography. Hełna walks pielgrzymki because walking puts ink down without arrogance. Trzymam kontur reads as preserving an editorial line.
  • Wolnokupiectwo: Walking is transaction. Janisław pioneers „umowy chodzone" — walked contracts valid only along registered routes. Three-signature discipline applies (walker, counterparty, świadek-księgarz).
  • Dziki Trakt: Walking is signature with the body. Orin’s mutation IS the redaction; her people walk with their bodies as the pen. Two-handed signature reads natively.

Each lifts from an existing character beat (frakcje.mdx, protagonista.mdx); no faction is retrofitted.

Endgame implication (v2.0 four-Spisy arc): R1 maps the arc onto editorial-access. Walker level 50 has writing-rights into Spis Wszechrzeczy; v2.0 extends rights to Spis Czasów / Spis Słów / Spis Pustek. Endgame keystones = Spis-access gateways. The Walker does not find the missing Spisy; the Walker earns the right to write into them.

Forbidden-tropes check (all 11): PASS. Filar 1 preserved (Walker is establishment, not chosen). Trop 8 (grimdark) clean — Going Postal register, dignity-of-work, not bureaucratic drudgery. Trop 9 (magic-as-escalation) clean — progress is depth-of-edit, not loudness. Trop 11 (save-the-world) clean — register-not-rescue, world fixed line-by-line.

Open-questions answered at ratification:

  1. Foundation.mdx tie-in passage deferred to W-level (narrative-designer authors after D-013 lands — same pattern D-012 used for its foundation tie-in, which D-013 ratification now unblocks).
  2. Bertranda’s title stays Naczelna Pisarka. Not renamed to Naczelna Redaktor or Naczelna Zecerka. Pisarka is the operational/clerical title; redaktor is the theoretical/metaphysical register that lives in lore prose. The two registers are deliberately separated (per D-012’s „obraz” vs „odznaka” separation).
  3. step_efficiency modifier NOT renamed. The rule lives at the lore layer; the modifier name is a stable schema field (canonical in combat/formulas.md §3). Renames cost more than they gain.
  4. Trop 12 (anti-step-spam clause) deferred to W-level. narrative-designer evaluates after D-013 ratifies; if added, framing reads „Krok to jednostka moralna, nie jednostka gameable. Spis liczy dzień, nie linijkę" — consistent with D-007’s per-day attestation invariant.

Reasoning: Both narrative and mechanics lenses converged on R1 at confidence > 0.85 (mean 0.90) with no divergence. R1 is the only candidate where (a) the Cech motto, (b) D-012’s image verb, (c) Bertranda’s title, (d) Janisław’s three-signature discipline, (e) Orin’s two-handed signature, (f) Hełna’s trzymam kontur, (g) Włodyk’s pieczęcie work, (h) the combat simulator’s turn-record transcript shape, AND (i) D-009’s 7-day offline queue all line up under one verb — pisać/przepisać. The convergence is over-determined by existing canon; D-013 ratification is not introducing a metaphor, it is formalizing the one already in place since round 2 of the lore foundation.

Follow-up work (W-level, post-ratification): narrative-designer authors wiki/src/content/docs/lore/canon/walking-rule.mdx (PL) — the lore canon page describing the rule, its grammar, the five faction stances, and the Cech’s theoretical-vs-operational register. narrative-designer also authors the foundation.mdx tie-in passage joining D-012 and D-013 under one metaphysical engine. narrative-designer evaluates whether to add Trop 12 to forbidden-tropes.mdx. mechanics-designer takes no action (rule lives at the lore layer; no schema changes).
